Ford Focus (US) (2015–2019) Fuse Box and Relay Locations

Fuses protect the Ford Focus’s electrical circuits by breaking the connection if a circuit is overloaded. Relays act as electrically controlled switches for systems that need more current, such as the cooling fan or headlights. Both are important for protecting wiring and electrical components.

Knowing the Ford Focus fuse box location can help you investigate problems such as a radio, light, power window, or other electrical feature that stops working. The main fuse panels are inside the cabin and in the engine compartment; a separate high-current fuse block is attached to the battery.

MUST READ: DYI – How to Check Car Fuses?

WARNING

  • Never replace a fuse with one that has a higher amperage rating.
  • A fuse with a too-high amperage could damage the electrical part and cause a fire.
  • On no account should fuses be repaired (e.g. patched up with tin foil or wire) as this may cause serious damage elsewhere in the electrical circuit or cause a fire.
  • If a fuse blows repeatedly, do not keep replacing it. Instead, have the cause for the repeated short circuit or overload tracked and fixed.
  • Terminal and harness assignments for individual connectors will vary depending on vehicle equipment level, model, and market.

Ford Focus (US) (2015–2019) fuse assignment

Ford Focus (US) Year of production: 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019

Model-year note

Ford did not offer a regular US-market 2019 Focus in the same lineup as the 2015–2018 models. If your paperwork lists 2019, check the VIN and owner’s manual to confirm the exact model and fuse layout. Fuse and relay positions can also vary by engine and trim, including ST, RS, and Focus Electric versions.

Passenger-Compartment Fuse Panel

ford focus (us) (2015-2019): passenger compartment fuse panel location

The interior fuse panel is behind the glove box on the passenger side of the dashboard.

To reach it, switch off the ignition, open and empty the glove box, then press its sides inward to release the stops. Lower or swing the glove box down to expose the fuse panel. If your vehicle has an additional cover, release its clips gently rather than pulling hard.

Use the vehicle’s fuse diagram or owner’s manual to match the fuse number and circuit. The diagram may be printed on the panel cover, but layouts can differ between versions.

Engine-Compartment Fuse and Relay Box

ford focus (us) (2015-2019): engine compartment fuse box location

The main power distribution box is under the hood, near the battery. It contains fuses and relays for many engine, lighting, cooling, and other electrical systems.

With the ignition off, open the hood and locate the box. Release the cover’s retaining clips and lift it off. Check the markings on the cover and compare them with the correct fuse and relay diagram before removing a component. Some relays look alike, so do not swap them unless the diagram and part information confirm they are interchangeable.

ford focus (us) (2015-2019): load compartment fuse box location

Battery Fuse Box

A high-current fuse block is attached to the battery’s positive terminal, usually beneath a protective cover. It provides protection for major electrical circuits and is different from the smaller blade-fuse panels.

Use caution around this block: the battery connection can remain live even when the ignition is off. Do not pry out high-current fuses or touch the positive terminal with a metal tool. Follow the owner’s manual’s battery-disconnection procedure or ask a qualified technician to service this fuse block.

The standard gasoline Focus does not generally have a separate main fuse panel in the trunk. Focus Electric models have high-voltage components and additional service precautions; do not touch orange high-voltage cables or open the traction-battery system.

Checking and Replacing Fuses in Ford Focus (US)

If electrical components in the vehicle are not working, a fuse may have blown. Blown fuses are identified by a broken wire within the fuse. Check the appropriate fuses before replacing any electrical components.

Conclusion

The main Ford Focus fuse box locations are behind the passenger-side glove box and in the engine compartment near the battery, with a separate high-current fuse block attached to the battery’s positive terminal. The correct diagram is essential because fuse and relay layouts vary by model and equipment.

Careful identification and correct fuse ratings can help with basic troubleshooting while protecting the vehicle’s electrical system. If you are unsure which fuse or relay to check, or a fuse keeps failing, consult the owner’s manual or a qualified technician.
