The Chrysler PT Cruiser (2001-2010) comes in various types, including the standard wagon and convertible models. Known for its retro design, it offers features such as power windows, air conditioning, and an advanced audio system. Higher trims include leather seating, sunroof, and turbocharged engine options.
The vehicle’s fuse box, located under the dashboard and in the engine compartment, protects essential systems like the headlights, air conditioning, and radio. If any of these systems stop working, a blown fuse might be the cause, protecting the circuits from electrical damage.
The PT Cruiser’s relays manage crucial functions such as the starter, cooling fans, and fuel pump. These relays act as switches, allowing low-current circuits to control high-current components. A faulty relay can lead to starting issues, engine overheating, or fuel delivery problems.
Regular maintenance of the fuse box and relays ensures the PT Cruiser’s features remain functional, avoiding potential electrical failures and keeping the car running efficiently.

WARNING
- Never replace a fuse with one that has a higher amperage rating.
- A fuse with a too-high amperage could damage the electrical part and cause a fire.
- On no account should fuses be repaired (e.g. patched up with tin foil or wire) as this may cause serious damage elsewhere in the electrical circuit or cause a fire.
- If a fuse blows repeatedly, do not keep replacing it. Instead, have the cause for the repeated short circuit or overload tracked and fixed.
- Terminal and harness assignments for individual connectors will vary depending on vehicle equipment level, model, and market.
