Discover the fuse box and relay locations for the 1996-1997 Ford Aerostar. Includes detailed diagrams to help maintain key electrical systems efficiently.
The 1996-1997 Ford Aerostar is a versatile minivan designed for families and utility, offering two main body styles: the standard length and the extended-length (XL) model. Both styles provide ample interior space, with the XL version offering additional cargo capacity. The Aerostar features a boxy yet functional design, focusing on practicality, and includes options for rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, making it suitable for various driving conditions.
To support its range of electrical systems, including lights, wipers, and climate control, the Aerostar relies on well-organized fuse boxes and relays. The primary fuse box is located under the dashboard on the driver’s side, while the power distribution box, housing key relays, is found in the engine compartment. These components manage essential electrical circuits, ensuring smooth operation. Inspecting and replacing blown fuses or faulty relays helps maintain the vehicle’s functionality.

WARNING
- Never replace a fuse with one that has a higher amperage rating.
- A fuse with a too-high amperage could damage the electrical part and cause a fire.
- On no account should fuses be repaired (e.g. patched up with tin foil or wire) as this may cause serious damage elsewhere in the electrical circuit or cause a fire.
- If a fuse blows repeatedly, do not keep replacing it. Instead, have the cause for the repeated short circuit or overload tracked and fixed.
- Terminal and harness assignments for individual connectors will vary depending on vehicle equipment level, model, and market.
