Learn about GMC Envoy 2002-2009 fuse box and relay’s locations, functions, and maintenance tips for optimal vehicle electrical system.

The GMC Envoy (2002-2009) is a midsize SUV that offers a rugged yet stylish design, appealing to those seeking both comfort and utility. Available in two main body styles—a standard five-passenger SUV and an extended-wheelbase XL version with three rows—the Envoy is ideal for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike. The Envoy also includes the performance-focused Envoy Denali trim, which enhances luxury with added features.

In terms of its electrical system, the fuse box and relays are crucial for powering key functions such as the headlights, climate control, and power windows. The fuse box is located under the hood on the driver’s side, while an additional fuse panel may be located inside the cabin, depending on the model. Relays, also found in these panels, manage high-power functions like the starter motor and fuel pump. Ensuring these components are well-maintained helps keep the Envoy’s features operational and reliable.

WARNING

  • Never replace a fuse with one that has a higher amperage rating.
  • A fuse with a too-high amperage could damage the electrical part and cause a fire.
  • On no account should fuses be repaired (e.g. patched up with tin foil or wire) as this may cause serious damage elsewhere in the electrical circuit or cause a fire.
  • If a fuse blows repeatedly, do not keep replacing it. Instead, have the cause for the repeated short circuit or overload tracked and fixed.
  • Terminal and harness assignments for individual connectors will vary depending on vehicle equipment level, model, and market.
