The Ford Excursion (2002-2005) is a full-size SUV built for durability, power, and maximum passenger capacity. It features a four-door body style with a rugged, boxy design that emphasizes utility and toughness. With seating for up to nine passengers and an expansive cargo area, it caters to large families, businesses, and off-road enthusiasts. Its sturdy body-on-frame construction, paired with powerful engine options, makes it ideal for towing and long-distance travel while ensuring a comfortable and spacious interior.

The vehicle’s electrical system is supported by a well-designed fuse box and relay configuration. The main fuse box is located in the engine compartment on the driver’s side, protecting essential systems such as the engine control, fuel pump, and powertrain components. A secondary fuse panel is situated under the dashboard on the driver’s side, controlling interior features like the power windows, climate control, and audio system. Relays near the fuse boxes manage high-power functions such as the starter motor, air conditioning, and trailer tow system. Regular maintenance of fuses and relays helps prevent electrical issues and ensures uninterrupted vehicle performance.

WARNING

  • Never replace a fuse with one that has a higher amperage rating.
  • A fuse with a too-high amperage could damage the electrical part and cause a fire.
  • On no account should fuses be repaired (e.g. patched up with tin foil or wire) as this may cause serious damage elsewhere in the electrical circuit or cause a fire.
  • If a fuse blows repeatedly, do not keep replacing it. Instead, have the cause for the repeated short circuit or overload tracked and fixed.
  • Terminal and harness assignments for individual connectors will vary depending on vehicle equipment level, model, and market.
