The Cadillac Lyriq, introduced for the 2023-2024 model years, represents Cadillac’s entry into the electric vehicle (EV) market. As an electric luxury SUV, it features an advanced electrical system where traditional components like the fuse box and relay are reimagined for electric propulsion.
In the Cadillac Lyriq, the fuse box serves a similar purpose as in traditional vehicles, protecting electrical circuits from overload. However, its primary focus may be on managing power distribution among various components of the electric drivetrain, battery management system, and other onboard electronics crucial for EV operation.
Relays in the Cadillac Lyriq also play a critical role but may differ from traditional relays in internal combustion engine vehicles. They facilitate the activation and deactivation of high-current circuits related to the electric motors, battery systems, and auxiliary systems like heating and cooling. Efficient relay operation ensures optimal performance and energy management in the electric vehicle.
Maintenance of the fuse box and relays in the Cadillac Lyriq is crucial for ensuring reliable operation of the electric systems. Regular inspections are needed to check for any faults, ensuring components are functioning correctly to maintain the vehicle’s electrical integrity and maximize driving range and efficiency in this innovative Cadillac model.

WARNING
- Never replace a fuse with one that has a higher amperage rating.
- A fuse with a too-high amperage could damage the electrical part and cause a fire.
- On no account should fuses be repaired (e.g. patched up with tin foil or wire) as this may cause serious damage elsewhere in the electrical circuit or cause a fire.
- If a fuse blows repeatedly, do not keep replacing it. Instead, have the cause for the repeated short circuit or overload tracked and fixed.
- Terminal and harness assignments for individual connectors will vary depending on vehicle equipment level, model, and market.
